For those of us who would like to see and walk on a glacier up close and personal, and would also like to be able to drive to it, this map and guide gives you the information to do just that, as part of a road trip to Banff and Jasper National Parks, in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

After wading through many articles and books dealing with osteoarthritis I was pleased to find a book that I felt comfortable reading. The author takes the reader on a virtual tour of this disease.Starting out with the progressive symptoms the reader is given information to gather before making that first visit to the doctor. This includes what questions to ask as well as being prepared for the questions the doctors will ask. The book is written in terms an average individual can understand. What a relief! This is a book that is practical and gives the reader a feeling of belonging. No longer that lost feeling as well as the panic that can accompany an illness. The author believes that a well informed patient is the best asset in managing an illness. The author doesn't offer a miracle cure. But rather he has included solid steps to deal with arthritis. This includes steps for those just noticing symptoms as well as for those facing total joint replacements. The author takes the reader through the entire process of joint replacement, including the decision to have surgery right through the rehab after. The author takes the fear of the unknown away from the patient and gives control and understanding. The reader no longer feels alone against the disease, but rather part of a team that cares. No matter what stage of osteoarthritis you may be at this is a helpful encouraging guidebook.

For fans of trivia books, this book is a must have. All questions are taken from the Columbia Encyclopedia, and range from easy to hard. There are a variety of topics. The answer to the questions are in the back of the book so you can't peek ahead. This book has instructions on how to use it to play a game. Highly entertaining.

This book is a lifesaver, complete with flowcharts of possible problems, descriptions of illnesses, what to do for your child and when to call the doctor. Most helpful of all are the many pictures of what rashes, etc. actually look like. I heartily recommend this for anyone with children.

This book portrays in wonderful pictures and words the true heart of Columbia. The book captures all major as well as minor sites and events as well as the feel of Columbia. Columbia has a rich tradition from the founding of our Nation through the Civil War up to the modern era of the internet. The people and places are acurately represented. The book looks at South Carolina's capital from a variety of angles. It covers the Universtiy of South Carolina, one of the Nations oldest public universities and a corner stone of Columbia's soul. It touches on the state government which is the foundation of the city. Ms. McGrane captures the city beautifully with a myriad of fine photographs. Columbia's wonderful outdoor life is realistically portrayed for all to view. For those from the south, and certainly those from South Carolina, this book hits the bullseye.

Like everything else I've read by Dr. Cavarnos, this little book is excellent (the part in English is 38 pages, while the whole book is only 62 pages.) Its a very easy read on a topic that is so central to Christianity: LOVE. Its so easy to get bogged down by life in the world and to forget that our basic calling is to love, this book reinforces that by describing love in various ways.

After a brief introduction, Dr. Cavarnos discusses the following topics: 1) The General Nature of Love, 2) Kinds of Love, 3) Christian Love and Other Virtues, and 4) Faith & Love.

There are ample quotes from the Holy Scriptures as well as quotes from the likes of great mystics like St. Symeon the New Theologian.

I highly recommend this book. Its so simple and powerful that it is astounding. This book can still be found through many Orthodox booksellers.

I purchased the 1983 edition of this wonderful little reference when it first came out and have used it extensively over the last 19 years. I've rarely been disappointed in the accuracy of information, or the ease of use. As an 8th grade teacher, I find my students are constantly seeking answers. Often, the larger encyclopedia are too wordy and difficult for my students to comprehend on first reading. If I hand them my Columbia, they can get a pithy summary of their topic, which then enables them to understand the more in-depth entries.

In addition to containing an amazing amount of information in a compact format, the illustrations are clear and informative, and the typeface is easy on the eyes.

In short, this is a wonderful tool and I have been known to recommend its purchase to students and parents -- whether or not they already have a full set of encyclopedia at home.

Since the publication of the first edition this text has been the basis for all later works on the subject. This edition also includes an new preface in which Fisher argues against most of the criticism that this book has received. Nonetheless there is no more complete book that surveys the issue available

Conversations With An Eagle: The Story Of A Remarkable Friendship is the personal account of Brenda Cox, a woman whose unique bonding experience with a bald eagle was to affect the course of both their lives. Brenda first met the magnificent raptor when it was twelve weeks old, and cared for it at the wildlife rehabilitation center where she volunteered her time. Brenda trained the bald eagle with falconry techniques (something that few human beings have ever had the privilege to attempt, let alone succeed), and suffered deep loss when her raptor friend unexpectedly perished after moving to a private aviary. Conversations With An Eagle is an amazing, memorable true story, and highly recommended reading for anyone with an interest in aviary wildlife or unusual life stories.
